This summary will outline the way to install the Microsoft PPM for Power Apps Accelerator including dependencies and steps to follow depending on your choice.
Before installing from AppSource
- You need a trial or a paid Office 365 Tenant
- You need a trial or a paid Power Apps License
- You need a trial or a paid Project Plan 3 (Project Online Professional) License
- You have created at least 1 Project for the web project
Importing the Microsoft Project Accelerator for Power Apps
Please remember that you need Power Apps and Project for the web installed before importing the Microsoft PPM for Power Apps Accelerator Solution.
- Download the Microsoft Project Accelerator for Power Apps solution
- Sign into Power Apps http://www.powerapps.com
- Select the “Default” CDS Environment
- Navigate to the “Solutions” tab
- Click the “Import” button
- Select the solution file you downloaded and follow import wizard
Setup Power BI Report Pack
- Download the Power BI Report Pack for the PPM Accelerator and unzip the file..
- Click on the Project Power BI template file to open it in Power BI Desktop.
- On the Enter Parameters screen, in the Default CDS URL field, type the URL of your Dynamics 365 Common Data Service (CDS) default instance you are using for Project for the web.
- Power BI Desktop will prompt you to authenticate with your Office 365 account. Select Organizational account, click Sign In, and enter your credentials.
A message will display telling you that your data is loading. Depending on the number of projects, tasks, and resources in your system, this may take some time. - Publish the Power BI to you Workspace.
- Go to Power BI web
- Click on File, Embed and copy the iframe script.
- Go back to Power Apps and open the “Report” web resource.
- Click on the “Text Editor” button
- Click the “Source” tab and paste the Power BI iframe script.
- Change width and height to 100%
- Click “Ok”, “Save” and “Publish.
